Thanks to your incredible generosity, Vikes Giving Day on February 7, 2024 raised $269,287 for your favourite varsity teams and recreation clubs. These funds will not only go towards that new boat for competitions but also open doors to international tours and matches against top-tier teams. With the added benefit of preseason training against elite competition, our teams are poised to excel, bringing home banners and national titles to proudly showcase the impact of your contribution. Unlocked Gift
Because of your donations on Vikes Giving Day, we were able to unlock a match of $2,500 from an anonymous donor that will go towards the Sports Injury Clinic. This clinic is vital to our programs, as it supports all varsity and club athletes to remain in optimal condition to perform their best.

Men’ Basketball
Men’s basketball raised $4,615! Your donation helps contribute to the team’s continued success. The aim is to make UVic a destination of choice for top men’s basketball recruits, and your support will help immensely!
Women’s Basketball
Women’s basketball raised $11,900! Your support helps contribute to the team’s all-female coaching staff, providing strong female role models as well as opportunities to encourage more women in coaching.
Men’s Rowing
Men’s rowing raised $43,578! Your contribution goes towards a new fleet which helps increase competition in the daily training environment, create opportunities for fair seat racing and provides the necessary equipment to train and race at the Royal Canadian Henley and the Canadian University Rowing Championship.
Women’s Rowing
Women’s rowing raised $46,112! Your donation allows the team to grow by building their fleet and going green with an electric outboard motor on their coach boat! A new fleet will enable an environment to expand and build on the success of back-to-back national titles.
Men’s Rugby
Men’s rugby raised $36,787! The team is travelling to Argentina to compete against elite teams where history was made 50 years ago when UVic became the first Canadian club side to beat a national team! Your support provides student-athletes the opportunity to compete against high profile teams and gain diverse cultural opportunities.
Women’s Rugby
Women’s rugby raised $11,390! Your contribution will help the team to build off the historic 2023 season by strengthening team culture and touring to the land of rugby: New Zealand.
Men’s Soccer
Men’s soccer raised $10,100! Your support goes towards out-of-season travel to face competition beyond western Canada. These travel opportunities will help the team work towards the goal of becoming a top men's soccer program.
Women’s Soccer
Women’s soccer raised $20,200! Your support goes towards a trip to Edmonton, Alberta, to participate in the Mia Gunter Special Olympics Soccer Tournament in honour of our much-beloved soccer alumna Mia Gunter, who passed away in March of 2023 at the age of 28. Mia had a passion for coaching athletes who were training for the Special Olympics. The women’s soccer team will play alongside members of the Special Olympics Edmonton team and the University of Alberta Pandas.
Women’s Field Hockey
Women’s field hockey raised $14,597! Your contribution goes towards the PATS project – Personal Responsibility (doing your best – academically/athletically), Attitude (being positive to yourself and others), Time (being on time for all team commitments), and Service (going above and beyond for the betterment of the team and community), which supports student-athletes to carry forward the lessons they learn from the Vikes women’s field hockey program to become positive contributors in the community.
Golf
Golf raised $42,275! Your donation helps strengthen the 2024/2025 competitive schedule by offsetting costs for student-athletes to compete among the top North American schools south of the border.
Swimming
Swimming raised $12,831! Your support allows student-athletes to gain training camp opportunities, technology support (HR monitoring, video feedback), and exposure to elite calibre competition, including Olympic Trials.
Track & Cross-Country
Track and cross country raised $3,250! Your contribution will help cover costs associated with hosting a preseason training camp. Our preseason training camp sets the stage for the upcoming season by connecting our athletes through team building, goal setting and training in preparation for upcoming competitions.

Artistic Swimming
Artistic swimming raised $150! Your support gives student-athletes the opportunity to travel to Nationals in Winnipeg, Manitoba in March of 2024.
Cheer
Cheer raised $650! Your donation helps our team participate in competitive events, as well as provide necessary equipment to uphold our cheer team legacy achievements.
Curling Club
The curling club raised $550! The program endeavors to establish a thriving curling community at UVic for the future. Your support provides the team with the funds necessary to continue to represent UVic and at the National Curling Championship each year.
Women's Softball
Women’s softball raised $900! Your contributions give our student-athletes the opportunity to compete against the top schools in the country. The team has already qualified to attend the 2024 Western Collegiate Softball Association tournament as a wildcard and are striving to perform at our very best while representing UVic.
Women’s Ultimate Frisbee
Women’s ultimate has raised $875! Already in our 2023/2024 season, the team not only qualified for the Division 1 USA Ultimate College Nationals but placed first. To continue to build of this legacy, your donation goes towards offsetting travel expenses for the team to continue their amazing achievements.
Men’s Ultimate Frisbee
Men’s ultimate has raised $5,283! Your donation helps to subsidize travel costs to play in games and tournaments associated with men’s ultimate frisbee.
Sailing
Sailing raised $50! Your donation helps subsidize program costs for student-athletes while providing opportunities to experience different levels of sailing that would otherwise be unavailable.
Ice Hockey
Sailing raised $100! Your donation helps to subsidize travel costs to play in games and tournaments.
