Thank you for donating in memory of Andrew Rippin

Andrew Rippin, former Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Professor Emeritus of Islamic History, was an outstanding colleague and academic. While his life was cut short by cancer, his teachings and spirit continue to inspire students, colleagues, friends and family.

For more than a decade, Andrew played an integral role in shaping the field of religious studies and growing the Faculty of Humanities at UVic. In 2006 he was made a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and today his writings and teachings continue to be viewed as essentials for students and scholars alike.

Recently, Andrew’s family made a generous contribution to help establish a scholarship to continue his legacy. This scholarship will recognize academically outstanding Humanities students, empowering them to focus on their studies and go on to make our world a better place by promoting human dignity, diversity, justice, and freedom.

Help us raise $25,000 to endow the scholarship, meaning that it will be available in perpetuity to students. Your gift, no matter what size, will serve as a thoughtful tribute and a living memorial to Andrew.
