Greig (R) with a recipient of the Custodian's Trophy, biology grad student David Stuss.

For decades, Greig Cosier worked as a custodian in UVic’s Cunningham building, and during his time there, he befriended many students studying late at night. He inquired about their studies and would sit in on their thesis defenses. Greig saw how hard these students worked and wanted to do something to reward them. This led to the creation of “The Custodian’s Trophy” which rewarded the hardest working graduate student. For nearly 20 years Greig personally financed a dinner for the winner and 12 friends.

Greig Cosier sadly passed away January 7th, 2017. He worked in Facilities at UVic for over 22 years and will be greatly missed by his coworkers, and all other university students, faculty and staff whose lives he touched during that time.

By supporting the Greig Cosier Custodian Memorial Scholarship we can continue the spirit, story and legacy of Greig Cosier.
