UVic Women in Science (WIS) is a student-led initiative addressing gender disparity in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) by promoting the visibility and advocacy of women and gender non-conforming individuals.
Donations to the UVic WIS club will go towards addressing gender disparity in STEM.
Donations to the UVIC WIS STEM Leadership in Diversity Award will recognize outstanding Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) graduate students in the Faculties of Engineering or Science who demonstrate strong advocacy for women in STEM and a commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and community outreach.
By creating this scholarship, UVic WIS wishes to recognize the contribution of racialized and Indigenous individuals to STEM fields, highlight role models for future scientists, and encourage future leaders to join and continue in STEM. Celebrating these individuals and their achievements is part of our broader goal of creating greater equity, diversity, and inclusion across the multiple academic and professional spheres of STEM.
