How many moons does Jupiter have? How do telescopes work? What can we observe right now in our local night sky? What’s up with that comet that looks like a duck? Answers to these burning questions and more can be found at the University of Victoria Astronomy Open House! Please join us on Wednesday evenings during the academic term, free of cost. Visitors can expect stellar Q&A sessions with students and faculty, as well as tours of UVic’s 0.8 m open-frame telescope: one of the largest optical telescopes available on a Canadian university campus! Weather permitting, we’ll also open up our telescopes both large and small for close up views of the moon, stars, planets, and more! Our Astronomy Open House is open to folks of all ages. No astronomy background needed, just curiosity of galactic proportions!
