Thank You For Supporting FishSounds

FishSounds Logo

FishSounds is a collaborative research project that aims to showcase the importance of underwater soundscapes. A central part of achieving this objective has been creating and operating the largest global repository of fish sound production information and recordings at FishSounds.net—frequented by over 15,000 annual users. This website provides data for researchers and managers to better understand biodiversity, ecosystem health, and the impacts of noise pollution and changing climatic conditions. It also allows us to engage directly with the public through our outreach initiative, FishSounds Educate, reaching over 3,000 participants from 65 different classrooms and events since 2023.

Your donation will help us expand FishSounds.net and our ongoing research, conservation, and education initiatives. Donations will primarily support students joining the FishSounds team, providing the opportunity for emerging scholars to join an exciting field of research. To date, we have been able to support students from several Canadian and international universities, and we aspire to create a FishSounds undergraduate internship program and a graduate fellowship. These programs will allow us to incorporate research on marine mammals and invertebrates into FishSounds, as healthy ocean soundscapes are vital to all marine life.

Thank you for supporting FishSounds!
