Ukraine Emergency Doctoral Student Fellowship in the Humanities

The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Victoria is establishing a one-year graduate visiting research student fellowship for a graduate student currently enrolled at any Ukrainian university in a doctoral program in the Humanities.

One fellowship of at least $40,000 will be awarded to an academically outstanding PhD student who, at the time of application, is enrolled at any Ukrainian university in a doctoral program in the Humanities. Both Ukrainian citizens and International students studying in the Ukraine will be eligible to apply. Their area of research must focus on any aspect of Ukrainian history, language, and/or culture, the Holodomor, Holocaust Studies, Genocide Studies, human rights, and/or social justice.

The Faculty of Humanities—in partnership with Social Sciences, Education, Law, and Continuing Studies—has committed funding to launch this pilot fellowship and will be directly supporting one student with access to library facilities, an office at the Centre for Global Studies, a peer mentor, and a faculty mentor. The student will be welcomed into the intellectual life of the Centre, the Faculty, and the University.

Your donation to the Ukraine Emergency Doctoral Student Fellowship in the Humanities will help a second graduate student also continue their important research, and to receive holistic support within our campus community.
