Support UVic Engineering & Computer Science Students

Vancouver Island Engineers Society (VIES) is a not-for-profit organization focused on supporting engineering students, practicing engineers, engineers in training (EIT’s) and other professionals in related disciplines with the intent of creating a community of learning, mutual support and information exchange.

VIES is the operating name of the Victoria division of the Canada Society of Senior Engineers which in turn is a Constituent member of the Engineering Institute of Canada. 

VIES raises money for a several scholarships that help students on the Island study engineering and computer science. Donate to one of the awards listed below to support engineering and computer science students at the Universtiy of Victoria!

VIES Leaders Entrance Award: These awards, of at least $2,000 each, may be given to undergraduate students entering the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, who have graduated from a Canadian high school and who have demonstrated academic merit (weighted at 75% of the adjudication) and extra-curricular accomplishments (weighted at 25% of the adjudication) in, for example, one or more of the following areas: engineering or software design, fine arts, athletics, leadership or entrepreneurship.

CSSE / EIC Vancouver Island Award: One or more awards of at least $1,000 each are given to undergraduate students, entering their 2nd or 3rd academic year in any accredited undergraduate engineering program (registered in 2A or higher) who: a) are Canadian citizens or permanent residents b) have graduated from a high school on Vancouver Island c) have completed the previous year with at least a 6 or equivalent grade point average. Preference will be given to students in the following order: a) demonstrated financial need b) demonstrated participation in campus activities or volunteer and community service.

Bonnie and Ken Putt Award: One or more awards, of $2,000 each, are given to transferring undergraduate women students entering second or third year or continuing undergraduate women students in any year in an Engineering degree program in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. Students must have demonstrated leadership in an educational or community setting. Preference will be given to students who are the first-generation in their immediate family to attend post-secondary.
