Help Keep Vancouver Island’s Weather Network Alive and Thriving.
The Vancouver Island School-Based Weather Station Network (VWSN) is a one-of-a-kind partnership between UVic’s School of Earth and Ocean Sciences and 13 Vancouver Island school districts. With more than 150 solar-powered stations installed on school rooftops, the Network delivers real-time, hyper-local weather data. This resource supports education, research, and community safety.
But right now, many stations are offline and unable to report data. Without immediate upgrades, this vital network risks losing its ability to serve schools, scientists, and communities across the Island.
By donating today, you help keep this unique educational and scientific resource alive and accessible. Every contribution brings us closer to a fully operational network that benefits students, researchers, and all who rely on accurate local weather information.
If you have questions regarding your donation, please contact Kate MacDonald at katemacdonald1@uvic.ca or by phone at 250-721-6102. Our office hours are 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
