Thank you for supporting UVic's Coastal Climate Solutions Leaders.
Your donation will help equip graduate students and postdoctoral researchers with the skills to tackle the climate crisis head on.
Coastal Climate Solutions Leaders is a novel interdisciplinary climate change solutions training program that bridges the sciences, engineering, social sciences and business.
Together, we are equipping trainees with advanced understanding of climate change science, impacts, and mitigation and adaptation measures; experience navigating the real-world complexities of implementing climate solutions, and the professional skills to successfully advance climate solutions in their careers.

Donation options:
Graduate Scholarships: Awarded to academically outstanding graduate students registered in the CCSL program. Preference will be given to students with financial need. Approval of the recipients will be made by the Faculty of Graduate Studies Graduate Awards Committee upon recommendation from the CCSL Management Committee. A student may only receive this award once.
Professional Skills Workshops: CCSL Trainees engage in workshops to enhance professional and personal skills that are highly-sought in the climate action workforce, complementary to the program's technical training. Trainees participate in custom Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Training for climate solutions, as well as Indigenous Cultural Acumen Training. Donations to this fund will support, but not be limited to, developing professional skills workshops (e.g., purchase of supplies, equipment, refreshments); accommodating external keynote speakers; and supporting student engagement in industry-specific training with attendance fees. Spending is at the discretion of the Program Director.
Symposium and Climate Connections Event: Each Spring, CCSL trainees present their interdisciplinary research and results from the BC Coastal Climate Challenge (BC4) at our annual Coastal Climate Connections symposium. Students present their work with multi-sector partners, wherein small teams co-develop integrated, technically-feasible and socio-economically viable solutions for local communities. The symposium provides trainees with valuable professional experience and exposure to a wide array of climate climate mitigation and adaptation approaches in British Columbia. The Coastal Climate Connections Symposium includes keynote addresses and Climate Career panels, connecting Trainees to a professional network of potential internship pathways and future employers. Donations to this fund will support, but not be limited to, day-of event coordination, including venue expenses, equipment rentals, and refreshments for guests, speakers, and students. Spending is at the discretion of the Program Director.
