UVic alumni are invited to a special virtual event featuring acclaimed true-crime author and UVic Writing grad Deb Miller Landau, BFA ’97.
Deb's latest book—A Devil Went Down to Georgia—is the UVic Alumni Book Club's current selection.
Deb Miller Landau is the author of A Devil Went Down to Georgia: Race, Power, Privilege and the Murder of Lita McClinton, a book Oprah Daily ranked #1 on its list of the best true crime books of all time. In 2024, it was optioned for a limited series by Universal Studios and was the inspiration of a two-hour episode of ABC’s 20/20, in which she appeared as an on-screen expert. Deb’s book has been featured in Atlanta magazine, People, Newsweek, NPR’s All Things Considered, and was a finalist for a 2025 Edgar Allen Poe award. Deb has written dozens of magazine articles and travel guidebooks for Lonely Planet Publications. She lives in Portland, Oregon.
