UVic Faculty of Law 50th Anniversary Weekend

The UVic Law 50th Anniversary Weekend will commemorate five decades of academic excellence, legal innovation and community leadership. This milestone celebration will bring together alumni, faculty, staff, students and distinguished guests for a series of events, including campus tours and a formal gala dinner along with some time without formal programming for alumni to get together with classmates and explore Victoria. The weekend offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on UVic Law’s legacy, celebrate its achievements and look ahead to the future. Stay tuned for panel sessions to be launched in September!

October 24 - Open House, 5 - 7:30 p.m. | Fraser Building, UVic Campus

This casual open house offers a chance to reconnect with classmates, professors and friends over drinks and light refreshments. Enjoy guided tours of the building and revisit familiar spaces. Explore the new wing, which celebrates Coast Salish design and honours Coast Salish legal traditions, houses classrooms and spaces appropriate for teaching and learning Indigenous laws, a dedicated student wellness suite, an elder’s garden and purpose-built space for our innovative clinical programs and research centres including the Environmental Law Centre, the Indigenous Law Research Unit, the Access to Justice Centre for Excellence, and the Business Law Clinic.

October 25 - Deans' Barbeque, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. | Fraser Lounge, UVic Campus

The tradition continues! Join past and present deans, professors and fellow alumni for a casual BBQ lunch at the law building. Reconnect over BBQ staples, swap stories from your time at UVic and see how the building has grown alongside the faculty. Whether you graduated five years ago or as the first graduating class, this gathering is a great chance to celebrate the shared history.

October 25 - Celebration Dinner, 5 - 8:30 p.m. | Sngequ House, UVic Campus

Join us for an evening of reflection and networking with former colleagues. Enjoy a buffet dinner while celebrating the legacy and future of UVic Law. Start the evening at 5 p.m. with a reception, where you can mingle, explore memorabilia and capture fun moments in the photo booth.
