Engineering and Computer Science: 2030 Initiative

Giving Tuesday - Student preforming experiment

Women in UVic Engineering and Computer Science play a critical role in our faculty’s success, yet currently represent only 18 per cent of our student body. We’re passionate about improving that statistic.

Aligned with the Engineers Canada initiative – which aims to increase the percentage of licensed women engineers across this county to at least 30 per cent by 2030 – our faculty is dedicated to increasing the number and supporting the success of women students. Under the leadership of Mina Hoorfar, our first woman dean, we’ve created the 2030 Initiative – a wrap-around recruitment and retention strategy to ensure our faculty reaches and surpasses the 30 by 30 goal. By supporting this initiative, you’re contributing to funding the programming and supports we’re implementing for girls and women – such as community outreach initiatives for girls interested in STEM, awards and mentorship programs for new and current students, and industry partnerships to engage women students with employers as they transition to the workforce.

24 HOUR CHALLENGE: Help us raise $2,030 for this important initiative today!
