Internet Safety for Older Adults

Is there an older adult in your life that can benefit from learning about Internet safety?
Are you caring for a senior and want to see them protected from scams?

The information era has provided so many benefits for consumers, however, sometimes older
populations need more time to become accustomed to new tools and ways of doing things.
This challenge is often how scammers and hackers will target older community members.

This session is designed to help seniors and those caring for them to improve their online security and
privacy without compromising accessibly. Topics covered will include spotting scams, choosing the right
device and security programs, safe downloading, and account protection.

Join the UVic Alumni Association as we invite Brandon Laur, BA ’16, of The White Hatter to discuss
these key important topics. The White Hatter is an internet safety and digital literacy education specialist company dedicated to educating the public on technology safety and privacy subjects.
This sessions runs 1 hour 15 minutes and includes Q&A.
